Abstract:
The dynamical process of the heart uses computing units of electrical generation, physiological signal propagation, mechanics deformation, and fluid flow transportation. The cardiac electro-physiology is represented by a reaction–diffusion equations using the Beeler–Reuter model. The contracting motion of the heart is described by the continuum mechanical equilibrium equations. At the end of a heart beat, the fluid flow pattern inside the ventricle is computed by solving the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. These loosely coupled sets of equations are solved by an interoperable computational framework, which manages the workflow and execution of the simulation. The functionality and performance of the framework based on the simulation of a dog venticle are presented.
