题目：Coordinate descent algorithms

摘要：

Coordinate descent (CD) algorithms solve an optimization problem by solving a sequence of simpler optimization that updates one coordinate (or block of coordinates) each time. It is useful in solving large-scale optimization problems with smooth or non-smooth and convex or non-convex objective functions. These methods are generally applicable to a variety of problems involving large or high-dimensional data sets since they naturally break down complicated optimization problems into simpler subproblems which are easily parallelized or distributed. In addition, CD is applicable to non-convex problems.

报告人简介：

印卧涛现为美国UCLA数学系教授。1979年生于南京，本科毕业于南京大学数学系，2006年获Columbia University运筹学博士学位。2006年-2013年6月，Rice University计算与应用数学系助理教授、副教授。2013年7月-至今美国加州大学洛杉矶分校教授。2008获得美国NSF career award，2009年入选美国斯隆研究奖，2014年入选教育部长江学者讲座教授。更多详细信息请见：http://www.math.ucla.edu/~wotaoyin/index.html
