Recent years, the laboratory has established close relationship with research institutions and scholars both at home and aboard to develop visiting activities and collaborative researches. Since 2010, several eminent scientists including Professor S. Smale (awarded the Fields Medal and the Wolf Prize; Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, United States), Professor G. Strang (Academician of National Academy of Sciences, United States; Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; former chairman to SIAM), Professor I. Sloan (Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, former Chairman of the International Union for SIAM), and C. Micchelli (distinguished professor in State University of New York, awarded the Alexander von Humboldt Prize) have visited GPK-LCS.
Every year, the laboratory exchanges faculties and graduate students to other countries or areas such as United States, Europe, and Hong Kong for academic exchanges and cooperation projects. Up till now, the laboratory has trained several joint PhD students with Syracuse University.
The laboratory has organized many forums and international workshops, such as: “International Distinguished Computational Scientists Forum”, “Sun Yat-sen Computational Science Forum”, “The Second International Conference on the Advances of Hilbert-Huang Transform and Its Applications”, “Sino-French International Workshop on the Newest Wavelet Analysis and Its Application”, “International Workshop on the Calculation of Ill-posed Problems and Inverse Problems”, “International Workshop on the Mathematical Methods in Image Processing”, “International Workshops on Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations”, “Workshop on Applied Harmonic Analysis and Approximation Theory”, “Workshop on New Methods of Computational Mathematics and Large-scale Data Processing in Oil, Gas and Seismic Exploration” .
